Recently, Microdermabrasion (MDB) and Microneedling (MN) have been incorporated in a novel MIRApeel™ device that temporarily compromises the lipid barrier in the outer layer of the stratum corneum as well as creating reversible micro-clefts, for passive passage of macromolecules from cosmeceuticals, drugs, platelet-rich particles, and bioactive secretomes. Furthermore, an exposure to blue and red light through light-emitting diodes (LED) may be added at the end of MDB and MN treatments to enhance wound recovery and skin rejuvenation.
